Future project: Lilly, Alzey (DE)

Eli Lilly is investing over €2.5 billion in a brand-new, CO₂-neutral production site in Alzey, Germany – one of the largest pharmaceutical investments in Europe in recent years. This state-of-the-art facility will focus on the production of injectable medicines such as Mounjaro and Zepbound, innovative therapies used worldwide in the fight against diabetes, obesity, and other chronic conditions. The site is designed for maximum sustainability and technological efficiency and is expected to be operational by 2027. With the creation of approximately 1,000 new jobs for highly skilled professionals – including engineers, technicians, and life sciences specialists – this project will serve as a significant driver of economic and industrial development in the region.

We are particularly proud to contribute to this pioneering project with the supply of high-performance fire-rated doors, essential for compartmentalization and overall fire safety of the site. We are realizing this in collaboration with our partner Alsteff, who is responsible for the delivery and integration of the entire conveyor system. Alsteff specializes in automated transport systems for industrial applications and handles the engineering, production, and installation of modular solutions such as belt, roller, chain, and gravity conveyors. For Lilly in Alzey, Alsteff ensures a seamless logistics flow within the production process – with a focus on reliability, precision, and integration with the building services.

Together, we are creating a safe, efficient, and future-oriented environment where innovation, health, and sustainability reinforce each other. In Alzey, Winlock will install 37 fire-resistant doors with 90-minute fire resistance (EI1 90), including 20 of the Frost lock type for optimal thermal insulation down to -23°C.

Thank you Alstef Group!
