The CEA center (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission) in Cadarache embodies French excellence in energy innovation and is a cornerstone of the global energy transition. Located in the Bouches-du-Rhône, it is the largest research and development center in Europe dedicated to energy, and in particular to nuclear energy.
Established in 1959, the center comprises nearly 20 nuclear facilities and employs over 5,000 researchers, engineers, and technicians. Cadarache is a strategic site for advances in nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, and alternative energy sources, and hosts large-scale international projects, including the renowned ITER program (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), which aims to demonstrate the feasibility of fusion as a clean and inexhaustible energy source. The site will also house the future Jules Horowitz Reactor, focused on research into nuclear materials and fuels.
At this highly sensitive site, Winlock will install an EI1 120 fire-resistant sectional door, specially developed to meet the complex and critical requirements of a nuclear infrastructure. In addition to its 120-minute fire resistance, this solution includes other essential features for this type of environment: it is designed for outdoor use thanks to the Out Lock feature, and reinforced to remain fully operational in the event of an earthquake, in compliance with seismic zone requirements (earthquake: E1 non-missile), thanks to Quake Lock technology. The door is also equipped with reinforced mechanical safety systems, such as a fall protection device and oversized hinges, to ensure robustness and reliability.
Designed for daily use, this solution provides both compartmentalization of spaces and protection of strategic installations against fire, while meeting the highest standards of industrial safety.
Thanks to CEA and SAS Forcis for their trust.
