SCK CEN, the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, is a leading research institute focused on nuclear technology and energy. Based in Mol, SCK CEN conducts research in areas such as nuclear energy, radioactive waste management, radiation protection, and medical applications of nuclear technology. With unique facilities like the BR2 reactor for the production of radioactive isotopes and groundbreaking projects such as MYRRHA and small modular reactors (SMRs), the Belgian nuclear research centre plays a key role in the safe and sustainable development of nuclear energy, both nationally and internationally.
As part of the further expansion of its research infrastructure, the second construction phase of the MINERVA project has been launched. This expansion marks a significant step in strengthening the research and testing capabilities of SCK CEN and highlights the continued focus on innovation, safety, and forward-looking technologies within a highly secure nuclear environment.
At the Mol site, Winlock will install fire resistant sectional shutters with a fire resistance rating of 60 minutes (EI1 60).
Thank you, SCK CEN and Stadsbader!
