Kanal is a museum for modern and contemporary art, architecture and landscape architecture in Brussels, founded in 2017. Housed in the former Citroën garage along the canal, Kanal is developing a place where artists, makers, architects and the public can come together, just a short distance from the historic city centre. A strategic partnership with the Centre Pompidou provides Kanal with long-term access to one of the world’s leading collections of modern and contemporary art. The project brings together not only exhibition spaces, but also public functions and areas for meeting, learning and experience. It is a museum in progress, offering space for art, architecture and urban life under one roof.
The redevelopment marks an important step in the cultural and architectural future of the city. The opening, scheduled for 28 November 2026, is internationally anticipated and further strengthens Brussels’ position as a cultural destination in Europe.
At this iconic site, Winlock will install fire resistant sectional shutters with 120 minutes fire resistance (EI1 120), equipped with both a Noise Lock and an Air Lock application. These solutions contribute to optimal fire safety, acoustic performance and air control within the building. In this way, Winlock helps ensure a safe and high-performing environment for this unique Brussels location, where heritage and future come together.
Thank you, Kanal and BPC Group!
