INEOS Project ONE is one of the most ambitious industrial investments in Flanders. The new ethane cracker in the Port of Antwerp will be among the most energy-efficient in the world.
Project ONE marks a major step towards a climate-neutral industry. The facility’s CO₂ emissions will be less than half those of the top 10% of European crackers today. Compared to an average cracker, its performance is three times better. This achievement will set a new benchmark within the European Emissions Trading System, encouraging other players to step up their investment in sustainable technology.
The project is also of strategic importance. Over the past 20 years, the European chemical industry has lost two-thirds of its market share due to increasing competition from China and the US. Large-scale investments have been lacking — the newest ethane cracker in Europe is already 25 years old. With a multi-billion euro investment, Project ONE represents a turning point that could once again place Europe among the global leaders.
For the construction of the administrative campus, Winlock initially installed five custom-made sectional shutters. The collaboration is now expanding: INEOS is once again choosing Winlock’s fire-resistant solutions, which are crucial for creating a safe and future-proof site. To ensure this safety, Winlock will install a total of six fire-resistant sectional shutters, each equipped with sound-dampening insulation up to 36dB (Noise Lock) and suitable for outdoor use (Out Lock), three of which will have a fire resistance rating of 60 minutes (EI1 60).
